Beaching it in Beautiful Cavus

We are staying at the Arikanda River Gardens www.hoteladrasan.com in Cavus (also known as Adrasan). Cavus is in the south of Turkey and is a 2 hour drive from Antalya airport.  It is a large horse shoe bay with numerous small hotels and cafes lining the shore. At one end of the bay there is a river and there are about 6 "river restaurants" these are typically Turkish with booths, tables and comfy seats built onto decking in the middle of the river. The river is quite shallow but very pure and clean as it flows from the surrounding mountains. There are lots of ducks, geese, trout and turtles swimming around. In fact we woke up this morning and looked down to the river to see loads of turtles basking in the sun.

We met the people who run the hotel a few visits back to Cavus and always promised to visit their hotel. Chris has been in communication for a few years on Facebook and we finally got here. The hotel is beautiful right on the river, just to the side of the restaurant. We had a great meal last night with plenty of whisky and gin and tonics to celebrate our arrival. The hotel only has 10 rooms and everyone is very friendly and the setting really cannot be beat.

We spent all day today at the beach. The temperature was alot hotter than in Istanbul and there was no clouds. We both managed to get sunburnt despite a liberal application of suntan lotion (thanks Miz!!). The sea was lovely and refreshing and very clear so that the bottom could be seen clearly. The beach was quite quiet, most people were Turkish and the older women all wore total coverup garments (including waterproof head scarfs) which must have been really uncomfortable as they swam in them and then set around in the hot sun all day. We sat on some beach beds belonging to a local cafe and had some salad (Chris had calamari) for lunch.

Hm wish I was back for the start of term at PMS NOT!!!

Not going to be doing much for the next 10 days apart from beaching so may not write the blog unless there is anything to report.
Good luck to anyone reading this returning to school today (or this week) particularly at PMS, Stowmarket or Cornard - we will be thinking of you, hee-hee!!!
