We travelled back from Halls Gap to the city by the scenic route. This included the Daylesford Hills where we sampled the water in a local spring (it tasted rather metallic and was fizzy – but the signs said it was OK to drink). We also did a short walk to a waterfall which was surprisingly spectacular. We also admired some more wildlife (this time the local birds – parrots!)

The next day we decided to get out of the city again. Thanks to Edna the sat nav we managed to find our way to the Mornington Peninsula. This was a really nice day out with loads of scenic beaches both bayside (inside the massive bay in which Melbourne is situated) and very windy on the ocean side. We visited Sorrento and admired the luxurious villas on the coast. We also had fish and chips on the key at Mornington. On the way back we tried to visit the actual street that Neighbours is filmed on (sad OK) but failed to program the sat nav correctly so sadly we will never see that World Sight. We also visited the St Kilda beach area of Melbourne.

So we really enjoyed this part of the World Tour, particularly the Great Ocean road. It was really nice to have our own wheels and to be able to travel at our own pace. It has made us look forward to the New Zealand camper van part in the new year even more.
