No Bungee Jumping for us thanks!

Lake Tekapo to Queenstown

We spent a day walking around Lake Tekapo and taking in the beautiful mountain and lake scenery.
We also got the van better organised and managed to fit most of our stuff in. We have arranged to pick up a bigger one back in Christchurch on the 10th. This means a slight altering of our carefully planned route and missing out the glacier in Franz Josef - shame, but hopefully will be worth it so get a bit more space.
Chris was also able to cook and enjoy his first camper van breakfast of bacon and eggs whilst overlooking the lake.

A word on the temperature, the first few days it was pleasant (about 20) but dropped significantly at night. In fact it was so cold we had to put the fan heater on inside the van. However as we drove further south it got warmer and now writing this in Queenstown it has been a muggy 25 degrees today. It is 9pm and we are still sitting outside (sun goes down about 9.30pm).

As we got nearer to Queenstown we stopped to admire the river. A bit further down the road there was the original home of bungee jumping where it was first done by AJ Hackett. It is now a purpose built production line of people wishing to bungee - one was jumping every couple of minutes. It did look pretty scary and neither of us were that tempted. The hard part seemed to be actually jumping of - the helpers seemed to kind of push the participants off. The cost per jump was $180 (about £90) they were certanly raking it in there.
